Alfred Angelo and Operation Homefront: A Marriage Made in the Military
Fort Washington, PA (PRWEB) June 9, 2009 -- Here comes the Bride! Every bride anticipates the day she walks down the aisle in a spectacular bridal gown on her wedding day. On June 13th, this dream will come true for the military brides from the 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Benning when they trade in fatigues for their beautiful Alfred Angelo (http://www.alfredangelostores.com) dresses.
Alfred Angelo (http://www.alfredangelostores.com), participating with Operation Homefront-Georgia (http://operationhomefront.net/georgia), is proud to dress 20 brides from the 3rd Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division participating in Ft. Benning's first group military wedding. The ceremony will take place at the Columbus Botanical Garden just outside the base.
"This ceremony will mark a memorable and happy occasion for all of the men and women deploying for duty overseas in Fall 2009 from the 3rd Infantry Division. This was something special that we wanted to do for the soldiers before the upcoming deployment. Most are not able to have a formal wedding or ceremony. These military brides are ecstatic and they look amazing in their Alfred Angelo gowns!" says Kim Scofie, Chapter President of Operation Homefront-Georgia.
Each bride was invited to choose her special gown at the Ft. Benning base in April at an event called "The Cake Walk". As part of their on-going partnership with the national non-profit Operation Homefront, Alfred Angelo recently donated 386 wedding gowns made available to military service women and brides-to-be of military service men.
During "The Cake Walk" event, 70 women selected their dream Alfred Angelo (http://www.alfredangelostores.com) gown. Danise Barry, Family Service Specialist for the Ft. Benning base, said, "I think the men were just as excited as the women. They all wanted to see the dresses the ladies had chosen, but we had to send them away to keep them from peeking."
The brigade Chaplain who is performing the ceremony commented, "All I hear in the hallway is talk about wedding dresses! There is such a wonderful energy on the base surrounding the event and the Alfred Angelo gowns."
Amanda Sheronas, Director of PR and Events for Alfred Angelo says, "Partnering with Operation Homefront (http://www.operationhomefront.net) has been a wonderful experience for the company, and one we are looking forward to continuing in the future. We are proud that Alfred Angelo has been able to bring so much joy and happiness to the Ft Benning community in the face of a mass deployment. It's a joy to give these brides and grooms that special day as a thank you from Alfred Angelo for answering a call to duty."
To date, 266 of the 386 gowns donated by the 75-year-old Alfred Angelo (http://www.alfredangelostores.com) have been selected by service women and brides of service men for future ceremonies in Georgia, Florida, Texas, Maine, and Oregon. The next donation is scheduled for Summer 2009.
In addition to their partnership with the Armed Forces through Operation Homefront, Alfred Angelo (http://www.alfredangelostores.com) announced a Military Discount, starting June 2009. Military brides will be offered a 15% discount on any Alfred Angelo bridal gown in any Alfred Angelo-owned bridal store. As an extra bonus, military brides can also take advantage of $25 off bridesmaid gowns at the time of their bridal gown purchase. A valid military ID is necessary for all purchases.
