Father Petrica Bratu, 37, suggests that the women pay a fine of ?10 if the couple had just moved in tighter, but pregnant brides would pay ?60. The average salary in Romania is ?100 per month.
Is White the Only Color? While this Romanian priest takes one view of wearing white on a wedding day, there are a lot of other traditional views of the white wedding dress. In fact, the tradition of wearing a white wedding dress is fairly recent. The white wedding dress came into fashion at the marriage of Queen Victoria to her cousin Albert of Saxe-Coburg in 1840. Prior to that date, wedding dresses were made in a variety of colors.
